Forever Strong

I heard about this movie on the radio this week when the DJ's interviewed some of the people that this story is about. The story is based on the life of a coach in Highland, UT who has coached a Rugby team for 30 years and only lost about 9 games. We went to see the movie last night and it was GREAT! It has such a good message and really makes you want to be a better person. It has a lot of quality actors and the story is told very well. So if you want a night out with or without your kids, this is a good one.

Kalai Concert September 2008

We got to attend a concert this evening at Thanksgiving Point. I hadn't heard of the artist, but was excited for the outdoor event. It was held in the Amphitheater which is located in the
Thanksgiving Point Gardens.

This is everyone finding seats and getting ready for the concert to begin.
This was the first lead in band. They were good, but it was all instrumental, no vocals. The bongo player was exceptional.
The second artist to perform was Benton Paul. He was really good. He had a unique style, but also sang some favorites from Paul Simon and Sting. We really enjoyed his music.
Here we are.
The main act was Kalai. He is an amazing guitarist and writes his own music. I included a track on my playlist so you could hear him. He was good, but some of his stuff was hard to understand. I think I liked Benton better.

Kitchen Surprise

Surprise - While we were in Boston, my cute kids took on the project of getting rid of the old wallpaper and painting our kitchen. Julie and Rachel started the task, then recruited the help of David, Jessica and Sara. They worked extremely hard and as you can see, created a great new look for our kitchen! It's awesome and we are so excited to have a new look. We have great kids and we are so grateful for them!

Boston 2008

I got to attend a conference in Boston this week and since we've never been there, Brad came along. We had such a great time and I discovered that I really like Boston and many places on the east coast. So, I thought I would share just a few of my pictures with you. I'm really loving our new camera.
This is the view from the front of the New England aquarium. I thought the buildings were really pretty.
This was the front of a home downtown. It reminded me of European cities where homes are lined with window boxes. It was so pretty!
We walked along the Charles river and took some shots of those out sailing.
I thought this looked like it ought to be a postcard picture.

These are my coworkers who also attended the conference. Jill is on the left and Tammy in the middle. We are walking through a park called the Boston Commons! It was beautiful. It reminded me of Central Park in NY except it was so well groomed.
The statue behind us is of George Washington.
Another couple of park views.

I thought this should be a post card picture as well. This is the harbor next to the Aquarium.

The TV show "Cheers" was patterned after this pub. So we had to take pictures. The exterior is exactly like the show.
We took a "Duck boat" tour. This was our vehicle. It goes on land and sea.
Our comical tour guide.
This is the look from the river while we were in the "duck boat".
Brad got to pilot the boat for a few minutes.

Friday, we rented a car and took a drive through Maine. This was one of the lighthouses we saw. Another postcard picture, don't you think?
I couldn't believe the homes. It looked like every home had at least 2 or 3 acres and were so beautiful.
And of course some had great views!
Here we are, taking a picture of ourselves on the shore.

Sunday Dinner

This is dinner at the Means' house on Sunday. As you will see, fun is had by all. Sorry this picture is a bit blury. Even with the blur, I thought it was still good so I had to include it. Everyone is looking pretty happy, just sitting around chatting.

Sara, Tyson and Julie in on the action.
Julie and Dad having a friendly discussion about upcoming season of something.
Katie called just in time to get in on the conversation.

Dishes time. This is called sisterly love.
Not sure what this is called, but I love it.
This is Jess, trying to convince Dave to help with the dishes.
But, this is what typically happens.
Jack is just enjoying having everyone here to visit.

Saturday Fun

Brad, David, Kelly and Bryan all went golfing this am. Since I was babysitting Brodie (Dave's dog), I got to see Dave after the game. While he was here, Julie stopped by and ate lunch before heading off to work. It was fun to have them here!

What's for Dinner?

Yeah - Rachel came for dinner tonight! We haven't seen her for awhile, so invited her to come hang out with us this evening. It was great to have you here, Rache!

And of course, Daxie came too.
Which made Jack happy. This is what it looks like when they are both concentrating on getting another treat.

Katie's Birthday - Ojai, CA 2008

Brad and I got to be with Katie for her 26th birthday which luckily fell on Labor Day weekend this year. We spent three fun days visiting with Katie. We swam, went to a movie, did a little shopping, but most of all just enjoyed Katie's company.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KATIE! WE LOVE YOU

Katie posing for me in her living room.

We spent some time out here on her deck, just not when we were taking pictures.
Our first night in town having dinner at a great place called Qtime.

On Saturday, a local Dahlia farm had an open house. How could I pass up the opportunity to take pictures of these beautiful flowers!

Here are Brad and Kate admiring the flowers, and posing for me.
